How it started
It all begins with an idea. Curación was born from Vanessa’s roots as a healer. She has a natural intuition, allowing people to truly feel seen. From a lineage of healers, empathy is in her blood. These aspects of her background are integrated and woven into her work as a therapist, and offer a unique approach for people to find their personal path to healing.
Before becoming a therapist, for seven years Vanessa worked with children, youth and adults struggling with severe childhood trauma. For many of the individuals she worked with, they were at the lowest moments of their lives, experiencing incarceration, homelessness and the effects of severe substance abuse. She helped them find a space of resilience, strengthening their confidence and illuminating the light in a dark tunnel.
Outside of therapy, she has spent the last two years researching the ripple effect of hate crimes, and the impact these crimes have on the local communities most targeted. Vanessa is also tarot reader, a writer, a poet and a social justice advocate.
Credentials and Education: Vanessa is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Washington. Vanessa holds a Masters in Cultural Studies with a focus on prison abolition from the University of Washington. She earned her second Masters in 2020 from Seattle University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
